The Unmentionables Chub Rub & Chaffing
So being comfortable in your skin is one thing, but if your size or shape makes your skin uncomfortable to be in what should we do?
Since I opened the fashion store for plus size women ‘Isis Fuller Figure Fashion’ I have met many women who suffer from chaffing or ‘Chub Rub’. There is no polite or glamorous way of discussing this subject, it’s hard to find a way to bring it up in conversation, and some women think its just them, but I assure you more people suffer than you would imagine.
Now although a very small percentage of women in the store have been brave enough to ask for solutions and share their own awkward experiences I know many of you simply can't share this level of TMI with anyone, So for you ladies and guys out there I thought I’d share some tips with you in a little blog/post that you can read anonymously and free of any judgment!
So first off, let me just reiterate you are not the only one! Secondly its not just a ‘fat girl’ problem, regardless of your size, if your shape means that little bits of you touch each other then you may experience chaffing from time to time, especially in hot weather.
Chub rub is extremely painful, irritating and inconvenient it comes from friction and irritation of two bits of skin being rubbed together right?! So logically if we cover the skin and cause a barrier then we would get some relief. Some ladies have experienced some success with shape wear. Now if you want to wear spanks in 100-degree heat, go ahead, but that concept seems hellish to me!
As a side note to that, I often find that although shape wear saves one part of you from rubbing, I end up with bits that were never meant to touch rubbing, in an overly hot and confided space! NO THANK YOU!
Some of you are aware I moved from the UK to Southern California, chub rub has always been an issue for me, but believe me, turn up the heat and the humidity and it becomes a complete new ballgame! I now leave the house with a few essentials that live in the trunk of my car, incase I get caught out! In my bag of tricks I have.
Baby Powder or Talc – this is amazing it soothes and dries any area really quickly!

Vitamin A&D Cream – This is used on Nappy/Diaper Rash and soothes the skin whilst creating a slippy little barrier between bits and bobs! (Talc over the top of the cream also saves and salves or balms marking clothes)
https://www.amazon.com/Original-Ointment-Jar-Pound/dp/B016I2JUWM/ref=sr_1_5_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1516992626&sr=8-5&keywords=vitamin+a+and+d+cream
Wet ones – Cold Wet ones! I keep them in the fridge at home to soothe and take swelling down and they stay cold for awhile in a shady spot in the trunk. (If you carry drinks or food in a cooler to work, pop them in there also!)
Deodorant - Use and reuse this in every fold crease, over hanging bits, and under your boobs, I particularly love the Dove Ultimate Go Fresh Roll On in soothing cucumber and green tea. It gives you a little silk slide on your skin also, which is really helpful!

For those of you in the USA Body Glide is a fantastic “runners cream” which is intended for athlete rubbing, having not done much exercise I wouldn’t know about that, however as a solution for chub rub it’s a fabulous product, and plus you don’t have cower in shame when you buy it, you can just pretend like you just bought a gym membership!
Just one more thing to tell you, there are such things a cool bras!! Google them! There are a lot out there on the market you just have to know to look for them! Breathable designs and fabrics, which make the summer a little bit more bearable for the boobs!
Thank you for reading this, I hope it helps some of you that suffer in silence!
